I have three upgrade ideas that you can use for your home that will turn it into a smart home without breaking the bank.
If you’re thinking about upgrading your home to usher it into the “smart home” era, the good news is that doing so is very affordable in today’s market. Here are a few upgrades and ideas you can use for your own home to make it more marketable for the future:
1. Buy a smart doorbell. These have cameras on them that can monitor any activity that takes place outside your home. You can get them online at places like Amazon for as little as $99.
2. Add a smart thermostat. These allow you to control the temperature of your home while you’re away from it. Nest is one of the more popular brands online. The average price used to be between $200 and $300, but now you can find ones for $169.
3. Install a smart lock. I have one of these on my home, and I love it. With these, you can use your Bluetooth or an electronic keypad and not have to worry about losing your keys or forgetting them. August Smart Locks offer locks as cheap as $149.
As you can see, upgrading your home into a smart home doesn’t have to kill your pocketbook. As we move forward into the future, millennials and other age groups will be looking for or even requiring these types of upgrades on homes. Adding them to your home now puts you in a better position to sell it in the future.
